Sam has over twenty years of experience as an engineer and a patent practitioner. He was a Patent Agent at a San Francisco IP law firm before moving back to Hong Kong. As an engineer, he has worked for a number of Silicon Valley companies on projects spanning across software, electronics, communications, and system control technologies.

Before joining Idea Intellectual Limited, Sam was the lead US Patent Attorney at a leading IP firm in Hong Kong where Sam worked closely with many Hong Kong research institutes, universities, US based technology companies, other commercial entities and individual inventors.

His patent prosecution experience and opinion work cover a wide range of technologies including the technical fields of software, mobile computing, displays, imaging devices, telecommunications, mobile networks, printers, cameras, automobile, marine vessels, construction and mining equipment, semiconductors, microelectronic devices, fiber optic systems, and biomedical devices. He has also engaged in intellectual property strategies, patent portfolio developments, IP valuations, IP licensing, product design reviews, patent landscaping, freedom-to-operate and infringement opinions, and IP enforcement cases.

Joerg has been advising on trade mark protection for over 16 years.

He has extensive and practical experience in trade mark portfolio creation and management across multiple jurisdictions in China, Asia, Europe and the U.S. including brand clearance searches, trade mark filing strategy and prosecution as well as contentious trade mark matters including opposition, cancellation and invalidation proceedings.

In Greater China, he has assisted clients to localise foreign brands, register non-traditional trademarks and combat shadow companies and bad faith trade mark applications. He has been involved in trade mark and copyright enforcement in the region representing clients in infringement cases and enforcement programmes including investigation, raid action, seizure and removal of counterfeits including on e-commerce platforms in China.

Joerg has also managed and advised on commercial IP matters such as licensing, assignment, due diligence and coexistence agreements.

Before joining Idea Intellectual Limited, Flora was a patent agent at an established law firm in Hong Kong. Her practice concentrated on patent prosecution, infringement assessments, patent invalidation and freedom to operate studies in a wide range of technical fields such as fintech, telecommunication, smart lighting, healthcare, voice recognition and virtual reality. Many of the key clients Flora has served were multinational corporations.

Before entering private practice, Flora served as an IP manager at one of the largest research institutes in Hong Kong, overseeing patent portfolios, screening inventions before filing patent applications and providing IP training for research and development groups.

Flora also has extensive R&D work experience in opto-electronic devices and process development of semiconductor assembly equipment. She is also named as an inventor on a number of opto-electronic device patents in China and US.

Eva has worked at a number of renowned IP firms in Hong Kong and London. She assists in all aspects of IP matters, notably Hong Kong, US and Europe.
